2022 French Presidential Election
The first round of the 2022 French Presidential election was held on 10 April 2022, with a second round runoff election held on 24 April 2022. No candidate won a majority in the first round, so a runoff was held between the top two candidates, Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen. Macron won the runoff with 58.5% of the vote, compared to 41.5% for Le Pen.
2022 French Legislative Elections
The 2022 French Legislative elections were held on 12 and 19 June 2022 to elect the 577 members of the 16th National Assembly of the Fifth Republic. Macron's party, La République En Marche! (LREM), lost its majority in the National Assembly, winning only 245 seats. The far-right National Rally (RN) party, led by Le Pen, gained 89 seats, becoming the second-largest party in the Assembly.
