Real Madrid Reach Champions League Final After 6-5 Aggregate Win Over Man City

Rodrygo's Late Goals and Benzema's Penalty Seal Victory in Second Leg

Madrid Advance to Final to Face Liverpool

Real Madrid have booked their place in the Champions League final after a dramatic 6-5 aggregate victory over Manchester City on Wednesday night. After a 4-3 first-leg defeat at the Etihad Stadium, Madrid rallied in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Rodrygo Goes scoring twice in the final minutes to level the tie and force extra time. Karim Benzema then converted a penalty in extra time to give Madrid the lead, which they held on to secure their passage to the final.

The game was a thrilling end-to-end affair, with both teams creating chances throughout. Manchester City took the lead in the first half through Riyad Mahrez, but Madrid hit back with two goals from Benzema to leave the tie level at 2-2 on aggregate. The second half was just as action-packed, with Madrid taking the lead through Vinicius Junior before Mahrez equalized for City. With the tie seemingly heading to penalties, Rodrygo popped up with two goals in the 90th and 91st minutes to send the Bernabeu into raptures.

Extra time was equally as dramatic, with Benzema scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot in the 95th minute. The goal sparked wild celebrations from the Madrid players and fans, who had witnessed an incredible comeback victory.

Real Madrid will now face Liverpool in the Champions League final in Paris on May 28. The two teams have met twice in the Champions League final in recent years, with Real Madrid winning both times in 2018 and 2022.
